						1 Play music and dance with your child. Let your child use posts, pans, and spoons to create sounds.
2	3	4 Independence Day Find a place to safely watch a fireworks display with your child. Talk about why you are proud to be an American.	5	6 Take a "counting" walk. Pick something to count (cars, signs, flowers, birds, bikes) and as you walk, keep track of how many you see.	7	8 Play "Pat-a-Cake" with your child. Help your child count how many fingers are on each hand.
9	10	11	12	13	14 Sing "Old McDonald Had a Farm" with your child. Take turns making the animal sounds.	15
16 Watch a musical on TV with your child. Talk about what your child's favorite part was. Try to talk by singing.	17	18 Go for a reading picnic under the stars. Take a flashlight, a snack, and a few favorite books to read outside. Look for pictures that the stars make in the sky.	19	20 Let your child help with a household chore today, setting the table, emptying the trash, putting away the toys, or feeding a pet. When the work is done, thank your child for helping.	21	22
23	24 Plan a "TV Blackout" night. Instead of watching TV, read aloud or play games with your child.	25	26 Go somewhere you can play in the water today, a pool, a lake, the ocean, or under a sprinkler.	27	28 Sing a simple song with your child. Count the words that rhyme. Make up a new song of your own using words that rhyme.	29
