Model Professional Development Programs

In 1998, the U.S. Department of Education identified eight exemplary efforts for its National Awards Program for Model Professional Development.

In 1996, the U.S. Department of Education identified five exemplary efforts for its new National Awards Program for Model Professional Development. The characteristics of these programs closely follow those outlined for promising initiatives in this report. Furthermore, their success in investing in the professionalism of teachers resulted in higher acheivement by their students.
