Dr. Lucas wears many educational hats in
addition to being named the Teacher of the Year in the Cambrian School District in
California. Since 1995 she has been a teacher mentor and is now involved in the pilot
Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment project sponsored by the California Department of
Education. Since teaching in California affords the opportunity for a diverse student
body, Dr. Lucas holds a bilingual, cross-cultural, language and academic development
credential. Her doctoral dissertation examined the induction of beginning bilingual
teachers
